01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

A bowl that delivers the deep, hearty punch of tonkotsu without the harsh pork odor has won a steady following near Yutenji Station. The signature draw at Hakata Ramen Ryu is its Dazaifu-style ramen, built on an aged, deeply savory broth. Slightly flattened noodles with a pleasant chew pick up generous amounts of wood ear mushroom and scallions as you eat, layering flavor into every mouthful. Ordering the special version crowns the bowl with a glossy egg yolk, lending a mellow richness to the broth.

Once that first bowl is polished off, calling for a kaedama extra noodle refill is an easy decision. Diners can steer the soup in fresh directions by adding pickled red ginger from the counter or introducing the toasted aroma of charred garlic oil. For something meatier, the chashumen offers tender sliced pork that rounds out the meal.

Counter seating forms the backbone of the space alongside a few tables, keeping solo dining completely unhurried. While lunch revolves around ramen, evenings bring an izakaya rhythm: simmering pots of motsunabe beef-offal hot pot, Hakata boiled dumplings, vinegared offal, and sesame-dressed amberjack sashimi pair naturally with a drink. Payment can be settled via cashless methods, including credit cards and various electronic money options.
